What is Pickleball?
The Basics:
- The fastest growing sport in America!
- A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.
- Played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net.
- Played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes.
- Played as doubles or singles.
- Can be enjoyed by all ages and skill levels
We have volunteers to introduce you to the game and show you how to play. Tell Member Services that you are interested and they will connect you with one of our pickleball players.
How to Play: https://usapickleball.org/what-is-pickleball/how-to-play/
Our Y offers two indoor courts, nets, balls and basic paddles available for pickleball play. We have a great gym floor, heat and air-conditioning and experienced pickleball players waiting for you to join them!
Our courts are shared with other activities throughout the day,
but we have court times reserved just for Pickleball. See our Gym Schedule for designated pickleball court times.
For more information, call 434-348-9622.
When the Gym Schedule shows "open court," a first come first serve member may use each half court as desired and start either a basketball or pickleball game. We ask that after one game, you please share the court with anyone else waiting to use it.
When the Gym Schedule shows a block of time reserved for basketball, pickleball, child care or group exercise and if at thirty (30) minutes past the reserved start time no one has arrived to play the reserved sport, a first come first serve member may use the empty court(s) to start a pickleball or basketball game with the understanding they will stop play and relinquish the court as soon as a member arrives who wants to participate in the activity the space was originally reserved for.
Children under the age of thirteen (13) must be within an arms length of a parent or legal guardian at all times to use the gym. Children under the age of thirteen (13) may not use the gym accompanied by an older sibling, relative or friend without their parent or legal guardian also being present.
Out-of-town visitors may come and play pickleball but must meet the eligibility requirements for guests.
