Fanny and Fernando!
Y Preschool will get your 3 & 4-year old's brains to think about coding, science, math, and reading! We will be "full steam ahead" into introducing your child to the sciences that might help him or her develop new technology and games in the future, instead of just playing games!
Y Preschool introduces Frogstreet, a tested and proven curriculum approved by the Virginia Department of Education to build your child's mind at an early age! Together with Fanny and Fernando, your 3 & 4-year-olds will explore hands-on STEAM projects, program "FROG-E" to do things, build literacy, solve math problems, and learn sorting and sequencing on a daily basis! And our highly trained and caring staff will keep them from suspecting anything is going on except play time! They will never know!
In addition to our S.T.E.A.M. curriculum, we instill our core values of Honesty, Respect, Caring, Responsibility, and Faith through everyday actions. Our children pledge allegiance to the American flag every morning. We say a blessing to give thanks for our meals. We draw/write and send cards. We visit nursing homes and entertain residents. We grow vegetables and share them with members. We sing to members, and on and on.
Y Preschool is eligible for children ages 3 & 4 (as of Sept.30) and fully potty-trained.
Choosing a state-licensed child care facility ensures you as a parent that the center follows regulations set forth by the Virginia Department of Education to ensure the safety and well-being of children. This is accomplished through regular, unannounced inspections. Additionally, child care staff are required to complete annual training in the areas such as health & safety and child development.
Financial Assistance: Our YMCA strives to make our programs available to all, regardless of ability to pay. Financial assistance is available to reduce the regular rate for Preschool if you qualify.
